Donations

Your donation to SWANEC will enable us to continue the removal of invasive plant species in the Wake County Area in order to preserve the ecosystem for native plant species. We want to thank you for your support in helping us make a noticeable difference in our local environment.

With your contributions, we have been able to:

  1. Supply/Fund Equipment for Invasive Species Removal: Due to your donations and support we have been able to provide tools, gloves, and safety equipment which is necessary for volunteers to effectively remove and invasive plant species like Japanese Knotweed, Stiltgrass, English Ivy, Japanese Honeysuckle and more.
  2. Buy Native Plants: Your funding allows us to buy native plant plugs, which are big trays of native plant saplings from local native plant nurseries around us. These plants are used for restoration purposes on previously invasive-infested lands and throughout our community gardens, which are planted and maintained by our volunteers through service events.
  3. Provide Volunteer Hours to HighSchool Teens: With your support, we are able to continue holding invasive plant species removal events which allow us to give numerous volunteer hours to teens that need them. These events not only help students fulfill their community service requirements but also teach them valuable lessons about preserving the environment and how it is important to maintain the ecosystems around you.
  4. Spread Awareness: Finally, your support empowers teens to take leadership roles in other volunteer groups that push environmental conservation through invasive species plant removal. Along with this education/presentations on Native Ecosystem Conservation throughout local schools are done through your support. These spread the word about the importance of the removal of invasive species and prepare the next generation for their role in preserving the environment.
